Awards
Along the way, some of my work has picked up a few awards. Here's a list, from latest to earliest.
Endurance Challenge: Mordred's Isle
(2006, 2007, Hatchling Studios, www.endurancechallenge.com)
In 2006, Hatchling launched an idea for an online serial combining fantasy characters with reality television (think Dungeons & Dragons meets Survivor). I was the co-creator, lead writer, and co-director on the show. We produced two episodes, allowing me to work with some famous voice talent, including Billy West (Futurama, Ren & Stimpy), April Stewart (South Park), and Richard McGonagle (Ben 10).
Endurance Challenge won the following awards:
- Phoenix Cactus Comicon Film Festival 2008, Best Animation (Episode 2)
- Phoenix Cactus Comicon Film Festival 2008, Best Short Film (Episode 2)
Endurance Challenge was also an official selection at the following festivals:
- Festival of Animated Film Stuttgart 2008 (Episode 1)
- New Hampshire Film Festival 2007 (Episode 1 & 2)
- Dragon*Con 2007 (Episode 1)
Signiant: Media Rush
(2007, Hatchling Studios for Signiant, www.signiant.com)
Signiant: Media Rush was a trade show animation illustrating the benefits of using Signiant's digital distribution software and blending 2D and 3D animation. I wrote, co-directed, and was a producer on the original piece, as well as its eventual sequel. Additionally, I worked as a 3D animator.
Signiant: Media Rush won the following awards:
- Create Awards 2007, Silver Create Award
- DV Awards Fall 2007, DV Award
The Toll
(2006, Hatchling Studios, www.thetollmovie.com)
The Toll was Hatchling's first animated short, an ambitious 3D mockumentary interview with a bridge troll. I wrote and directed The Toll, also serving as its lead animator. Our small crew also gave me the opportunity to work in a variety of other roles, including character design (the troll & willie), some 3D modeling, some 3D texturing, and the voice of Willie.
The Toll won the following awards:
- Mockfest 2007, Zelig Award for Innovation
- Malibu Film Festival 2007, Winner Audience Choice Award
- International Horror & Sci-Fi Film Festival 2007, Best Animation
- DV Awards 2007, Winner Best Comedy

- Flickering Image Film Festival 2006, Winning Short
